My new D-SLR

I bought my digital-SLR finally today. It is Canon EOS-300D. I fell the weight balance of this camera is quite good, and I don't mind its plastic body which some people can't accept.
This is a second hand stuff (if I buy a new, it would be EOS-20D), and age 6 months and cost me $4,300 with the Battery Grip BG-E1.
So the plan to purchase a EOS-20D will be postponded to 2006.

Patent Office Rejects Microsoft FAT Patent

This is a good news to the world's electronic industry. Otherwise, we have to paid the patent fee for our MP3, DC for using the FAT32.

New iMac

The new iMac will soon be launched. After study the price, the 20" iMac will be the most worth to buy. As a 20" LCD monitor will cost you $10,500, why not pay $4,400 more to get a powerful apple computer.

I am happy, but not proud of them..

Our Hong Kong Olympic delegate come back from Athen with a Silver medal, I am very happy they bring the joy and glory to Hong Kong, but not proud of them. The medal winner are actully trained in China not in Hong Kong. These is just another kind of "gift" from China.

Canon EOS 20D

Canon will soon launch a new Digital SLR EOS 20D. This camera's performance is close to what I expected with the price I paid. The price is close to EOS 10D about $12,000. I planned to buy this next year so that all the bugs are cleared and my bank account have that sum of money.

New DC

I used my Olympus C2020Z digital camera for more than 4 years for my daily shooting especially after Cedric was born. This camera could produce good picture but its response is very slow, saving & review will take you 4-10 seconds. So it is quite impossible to take picture with Cedric as he can't keep stand still. So I have a motivation to replace it.

I bought this from the Fortess Bazaar yesterday. The price for this 4-Mega DC is only $1380, or I might paid $200 more to have the 5-Mega F300. The F200 operate more smoothly and the extra 1-Mega pixels is useless as I only print 3R or 4R. Both of them has a terrible slow zoom, and the flash is not as strong as C2020Z.

Annoying call

Every often I receive phone call from credit card center to promote their valued-added service to me such as accidental insurance, financial planning, OD service, emergency cash etc. They are annoying because once you answered the call, the caller will spell out their lyric before you can stop the conservation, this is what I don't like. Also, I will not make a decision over the phone with my insurance, financial plan etc because it is not a "childish play".

Today, I also receive a call from Citibank; I could hear the other side has a voiceless voice. I wonder the percentage of successful call.

I will also cut the Citibank card tomorrow.

A Black Day

Last Sunday, on my way to Sai Kung with my Mum & Dad in Law to pick up Connie for dinner, a black luck came over me. When I reached Choi Hung, I chose the Clear Water Bay Road which is shorter than New Clear Water Bay Road but steeper. I stopped at the traffic light of the junction between Clear Water Bay Road and Jat's Incline, and I was the second car after a Benz. When the light turned green, I prepare to move my car when the Benz move. The Benz moved, but, backward..., you could imagine what happened.

Watching my car being crashed and couldn't do anything to save but watch is a painful experience.

The driver, a WOMAN, didn't engage the gear before release the hand brake, and she didn't know to step the brake to stop the car, instead she stepped the accelerator.

As Chow Sing Chi said in the film "God of Eat": I was ruined by an idiot.

PDA fade out

Sony announed that they stop producing PDA. It is because people need a mobile phone more than a PDA in daily life. PDA is a very useful pocket machine if you can fully utilize its functions, you can read book, newspaper, newsgroup, performing useful programs, play game, listening MP3, photo viewer. Though PDA is so powerful, I rarely see people take out the PDAs. It may be people treated it as a faded adult toy.

I always use my PDA to enjoy the photos of Cedric.

Space

Space is one of the documentary TV programs produced by BBC. I chose the DVD version for $145 as the VCD version already cost $115. The computer graphic is excellent and enjoyable. The six episodes use easy understanding language to explain the hardest Physics to the audience. 3 hours of enjoyment. Recommend.

My PowerBook

I have bought a 12-inch Apple Power Book from Ultimate PC & Mac Gallery. It is a second hand stuff with G4 867MHz, OS X, 256MB ram, 40G HD. The price is good when compare to the condition. I might install the air-port, upgrade the ram later.

I also bought this so that the PowerBook can share the files of my PC and go to the internet.

Busy weekend.

Canon EOS 30V

Canon has launched a new film SLR camera EOS 30V into the market silently. The price is around HK$3,200. The EOS 30V is almost the same as EOS 30 with faster AF, support E-TTL II, and the finishing is more refine.

I observed only Citicall display this new camera, not Broadway nor "Double Shing".

To me, EOS 30 already my dream camera with the price to performance.

Yuk Man's quit

Follow Cheng Tai Pan, Wong Yuk Man announced yesterday he stop talking in the radio until sometime in the future. The act of Tai Pan and Yuk Man force Hong Kong people to seek for their right by themselves. No one is obligate to fight for you except yourself. See you on 1st July, 2004.

Hiker in danger

From today TV news a hiker was kidnapped in Pok Fu Lam for over 16 hours. He cried for help and saved by the morning walkers this morning when the kidnaappers went to the nearby ATM to take cash from the victim's account. Two suspects were caught, and over HK$60,000 was drawn from the victim's account.

This kind of robbery occur 3-4 times in this 2 months and I feel that it is too much. It hesitates me from hiking alone or in remote area. Actually, Pok Fu Lam is a family trail that is 15 min. walk from the main road. Every weekend and sunday, you can see lot of families and people walk around that make you feel like in the shopping mall.
